Panjim Pousada

Entering the Pousada an
English lady exclaimed “This Place has Character
and Romance!” That describes
this little Vintage Property
Aptly. Located off a Bye Lane, 50 meters from the Panjim
Inn and the Peoples, the Pousada is
Certainly the Quieter of the Three. After the Hustle
of the Busy Street Outside, the Inside is a Relative
Oasis of Tranquility. Dignified Serenity and Peace coupled
with a Sense of Mystique, Romance
and Nostalgia for Better days
gone by.
Not quite as Old as the Panjim
Inn, the Pousada has the Distinction of being
one of the Few Hindu Houses in a Predominantly Catholic
Neighborhood. This Fine Old Colonial Mansion,
Initially Rebuilt in the 1930’s was the Ancestral
Home of the Well-to-do Ghanekar Family and embodied
all the requirements of a fine Hindu Home
of the Colonial era.
It was here that the Ghanekar Clan would Gather on Festive
Occasions like Weddings and the Annual Ganesh Festival
which is Special to the Goan Hindu. It was also here
that the Family would congregate and comfort each other
to mourn the loss of a dear one.
The Central “Chowk”
with its “Tulus” where the Ladies of the
Household Performed their Morning Prayers and “Arti”
and the Auspicious Tulsi Plant have been Nurtured with
Love to Bring out the Typical Ambience of a Gentile
Hindu Mansion of Yesteryears. So also have the 9 bedrooms
which Adjunct the “Chowk”. These are a Mix
of Old World Elegance and Modernity.
Antique Cupboards, Rose and teak wood
Four Poster Beds and Old Lamps Combine
with Modern Plumbing, Fans and Air Conditioning, Cable
TV and Electronic Safes. Granite and China mosaic flooring
in a Harmonious Blend help kinder this old Colonial
Mansion with an aura of romance and history.
Adjacent to a Vintage
First Floor Verandah is a Majestic Bread Fruit Tree
Reaching for the Light and the Sky !
The Casino Royale and Goa's
Unique River Boat Casinos are walking distance from
the Panjim Pousada.
With Live entertainment, Roulette,
Blackjack and Gaming tables they promise a fun filled
evening for those who fancy a Flutter.
