Built in the 1880s, WelcomHeritage Panjim Inn is amongst the first big Colonial Mansions of Fontainhas. A Catholic home, it was built by Francis Assis D’Silveira, a Landed Gentleman and Successful Businessman and has been owned by the same family over 5 generations.
The house has been diligently renovated and restored to recapture the nostalgia, distinctiveness and elegant old-world charm of an era long gone bye. Restoration and conversion of the house was done by the fourth generation Mr Ajit Sukhija in 1986. In 2009 Panjim Inn joined the WelcomHeritage chain of Heritage Hotels, a joint venture between H.H the Maharaja of Jodhpur and ITC Hotels. WelcomHeritage comprises of old Palaces, Forts, Havelis and Mansions converted to Hostelries with modern amenities evocative of an ethos and culture of romance and grandeur! While our three small Heritage Hotels are neither Palaces nor Forts we do try and generate the ambiance and nostalgia of an era long gone bye!
This Heritage Hotel has 24 spacious rooms, each individual in character. Modern facilities include Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms which juxtapose with period furniture, Four-Poster beds and carved Rosewood almirahs. Embellishments include Collectibles and Antiques together with fine Art from an in house Art Gallery making for an air of Romance and Colour!
